After the Summer Festival in Lucerne the tour still lies ahead: the Lucerne Festival Orchestra regularly hits the road to tour in autumn. The musicians have previously undertaken tours to Rome, Vienna, Madrid, and Paris; to Baden-Baden, Hamburg, and Luxembourg; to London, New York, Ferrara, and Moscow; and to Tokyo and Seoul, to Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.
In the fall of 2024, the musicians once again went on a concert tour under the direction of their Music Director Riccardo Chailly. This time, they performed in two fantastic concert halls, both of which opened just within the past decade: the Philharmonie in Paris (18 October) and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg (19 October). The emerging Swedish violin star Daniel Lozakovich, who caused a sensation at the Lucerne Festival Orchestra’s Spring Festival in March, was the soloist. Their program combined Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto with the Symphonic Dances from Sergei Rachmaninoff’s last years – a work that offers a magnificent, colorful retrospective of the life of this erstwhile resident of Lucerne.
You can read more about these tour performances during 2024 here (including an unplanned layover at the airport in Paris lasting several hours).
