After a long touring break, also due to Covid, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra is now finally back at international venues. A concert tour brings the Orchestra, its Musical Director Riccardo Chailly and soloist Daniel Lozakovich to the Philharmonie de Paris and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.

On 17 November 2024, the orchestra met for their first rehearsals at the Philharmonie de Paris. This wonderful venue was designed by architect Jean Nouvel – just like "our" KKL Lucern. In 2025, the Philharmonie will celebrate its 10th birthday.

On the program of the tour 2024: The "Symphonic Dances" by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Sibelius' Violin Concerto. The "Symphonic Dances" already were part of the Summer Festival 2024 in Lucerne; viewers from Switzerland can watch the performance by Riccardo Chailly and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra here on SRF.

After his breathtaking debut with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra back at our Spring Festival 2024, we are very much looking forward to working with violinist Daniel Lozakovich again.

What made this day even more special: Today was the birthday of Wolfram Christ, one of the founding members of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. He was – of course – honored with a little birthday serenade. You can find a video recording in the "On Tour" highlights section on our Instagram account.
