Lucerne’s wondrously beautiful churches imbue the LUCERNE FESTIVAL concerts with a special aura, and not just during the Easter Festival. The atmospheric space of the Franziskanerkirche, Lucerne’s Church of St. Francis, which was build in the 13th century and completely renovated in 1989, is particularly well-suited for concerts of smaller ensembles and solo performances. The magnificent interior includes the carved pulpit (1628), the imposing choir stalls (1651), and the mural paintings along the nave of banners and flags– a reminder of Lucerne’s days of yore.
