We would like to thank all the participants, sponsors, donors and our partners for their support and tremendous solidarity.
MoreEveryone – amateurs and professionals, young and old, ensembles, choirs, orchestras and individuals – was called upon to film themselves or others performing Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” (Freude schöner Götterfunken) and upload their recording on the campaign website. In this way, we collected musical notes and money for musicians in need in Switzerland.
Celebrities and music students, as well as choirs and orchestras, office teams, school classes and numerous individual artists participated. Among them were Swiss orchestras such as the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the Bern Symphony Orchestra and classical music stars such as Cecilia Bartoli, Sol Gabetta, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Igor Levit but also Swiss musicians such as Crimer, Stephanie Heinzmann, Francine Jordi, Erika Stucky and Knackeboul.
A total of 1,710 people took part, uploading a total of 374 videos and thus collecting over 750,000 musical notes. This resulted in more than CHF 275,000 being donated directly to freelance musicians in Switzerland via SONART. #SolidarityForMusic was covered by the Swiss media and internationally, thereby successfully drawing attention to the difficult situation of freelance musicians.
#SolidarityForMusic was the result of a collaboration in 2021 between Lucerne Festival and its main sponsors at that time, Credit Suisse, Roche, The Adecco Group Foundation, Zurich Insurance and Clariant Foundation.
