Born in Munich in 1989, the mezzo-soprano Ulrike Malotta studied at the conservatory in her native city and at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. She attended master classes with Christa Ludwig, Christian Gerhaher, Helmut Deutsch, Andreas Scholl, and Angelika Kirchschlager, among others. As an opera singer, she has performed in Frankfurt, Darmstadt, and Wiesbaden as well as at the Bavarian Staatsoper, where she made her debut in 2022 in Penderecki’s The Devils of Loudun. Her focus, however, is on the concert repertoire: she works with Václav Luks and his Collegium 1704, the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Camerata Salzburg, and the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne. She devotes herself intensively to Baroque music, as well as to Masses and oratorios by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Dvořák, and Verdi and to Mahler’s Second Symphony.
