Born in Berlin in 1980, Sarah Christ took harp lessons at an early age with Margit-Anna Süss and Marie-Pierre Langlamet, later studying in Detmold with Catherine Michel and in Lyon with Fabrice Pierre, and received her master’s degree under Helga Storck in Munich. At the age of 17, she began playing in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under Claudio Abbado, who subsequently also appointed her to the Lucerne Festival Orchestra in 2006. Following an engagement at the Vienna Staatsoper, Sarah Christ decided to become a freelance soloist and chamber musician. She collaborates with the flutists Emmanuel Pahud and Henrik Wiese, the oboist Albrecht Mayer, the cellist Jan Vogler, and the baritone Matthias Goerne, with whom she has performed at London’s Wigmore Hall and at the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg. Sarah Christ has made several recordings; the most recent is Un bal, an album of dances from the 17th to the 21st centuries released in 2021.
