The alto Jasmin Etminan comes from a German-Persian family and began her musical training on the piano at the age of five. While she was still a child, she appeared on the Stuttgart Staatsoper stage, where she sang the Fourth Bridesmaid in Weber’s Der Freischütz and the Shepherd in Puccini’s Tosca. Following private singing lessons, she studied with Christiane Libor and Stephan Klemm at the University of Music in Karlsruhe. In the 2022-23 season, Etminan was the first contralto scholarship holder to join the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, where her roles have included Mary in Wagner’s Flying Dutchman, the Third Lady in Mozart’s Magic Flute, Olga in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, and Erda as well as Flosshilde in Wagner’s Das Rheingold. She has also been supported by the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation and was significantly influenced by master classes with Brigitte Fassbaender, Anna Larsson, Dunja Vejzovic, Renée Morloc, and Melanie Diener.
