A native of Stuttgart, the mezzo-soprano Annika Schlicht completed her studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin “Hanns Eisler“ with Renate Faltin. In addition, she attended master classes with such figures as Julia Varady, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, and Brigitte Fassbaender, who still coaches her today. Annika Schlicht was a member of the Berlin Staatsoper Opera Studio and has been part of the Deutsche Oper Berlin ensemble since the 2015-16 season. Her repertoire ranges from Fenena in Verdi’s Nabucco and Mrs. Quickly in Falstaff, Magdalene in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger, Flosshilde and Siegrune in the Ring, Humperdinck’s Hansel, and Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus to Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder and Verdi’s Requiem. Guest engagements have taken her to London’s Royal Opera House and the Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman; to Bergen, Hamburg, Munich, and Paris; and, in July, to the Salzburg Festival to perform works by Vivier and Sciarrino.
