Beat Züsli

Beat Züsli has served as Mayor of Lucerne since 1 September 2016. He also heads the Department of Education, which entails responsibility for the city's policies in the areas of education, culture, and sport. The Office of Mayor additionally encompasses the Human Resources Department and, since 2020, the Digital Department.

From 1998 to 2009, he was a member of the Social Democratic (SP) Party in the City Parliament, serving as its president in 2007-2008. He was a member of the Cantonal Council from 2015 to 2016. Before his election to the Office of Mayor, Beat Züsli worked for more than 20 years as an independent architect and energy engineer.
