Mao Fujita on the 2025 Spring Festival

At 26, pianist Mao Fujita is already a star and a regular at Lucerne Festival.

In 2022, Riccardo Chailly invited him to take part in Lucerne's Rachmaninov cycle. Fujita's interpretation of the Second Piano Concerto was sensational because it was subtle rather than forceful. And so he returned to Lucerne with solo programs in the following summers – and became an audience favourite.

On 11 April 2025, Fujita can be heard again with Chailly and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra at the Lucerne Festival Spring Festival. He will perform Beethoven's lyrical Fourth Piano Concerto: a "mystery" for Fujita that suits his cantabile playing and sense of detail.
