Let's sharpen our ears for the music of the 21st century!
Even though Beat Furrer likes to retreat to a lonely forester’s lodge to compose, he "walks through the world with open ears" and tries to "understand what is happening around me by listening." Born in Schaffhausen and a transplant to Austria, Furrer, who celebrates his 70th birthday in 2024, is this summer's composer-in-residence at Lucerne, where he will work both as a composer as well as a conductor
In three episodes of our podcast "Deep listening. New Music", Beat Furrer and Dramaturge Mark Sattler discuss some of the music Furrer will be presenting at the Summer Festival 2024 (available in German only).
