The Lucerne Festival Orchestra, conducted by Riccardo Chailly, is an orchestra of a special class. Its members – famous soloists and chamber musicians, renowned music teachers and principals of the leading European orchestras – come together in a spirit of friendship every summer to perform a repertoire free from workday routine and service constraints. The Kühne Foundation is a partner of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.

The Lucerne Festival Academy is school for new music and a laboratory for the future. It was founded in 2004 by Pierre Boulez and is now directed by Wolfgang Rihm. Summer after summer, approximately 100 talented young musicians from all over the world – musicians, conductors and composers – dedicate themselves to a repertoire that is still far overlooked in the classical music scene: the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Roche is a partner of the Lucerne Festival Academy.

The Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra (LFCO) is an orchestra of excellence for the performance of new and contemporary music. Its 120 or so members have all benefitted from training with the Lucerne Festival Academy. They have set standards not only in interpretation but also in the development of pioneering concert formats – at the Summer Festival, at Lucerne Festival Forward and in guest performances all over the world.

With Music for Future, Lucerne Festival is committed to the generation of tomorrow, both onstage and in the audience. We promote the next generation of musicians with the Debut concert series, with performances by international youth orchestras and with first-rate prizes. We lay the groundwork with school and education projects. And with the popular family and children's concerts, we provide a playful approach to music.
