The mezzo-soprano Marie-Luise Dressen, who comes from Torgau in Saxony, studied at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music in Leipzig. Following her first engagement at the Theater Altenburg Gera, she was a member of the Luzerner Theater ensemble for five years and was awarded the Luzerner Theater Club’s Prix Gala. She has been a freelance artist since 2019. Credits include a guest appearance as Humperdinck’s Hansel at Cologne Opera, engagements at the Opéra national de Paris and the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and singing Rossweisse from Wagner’s Die Walküre at the Dresden Semperoper under Christian Thielemann and at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples under Dan Ettinger. In 2023, she sang the main role in Peter Maxwell Davies’s Miss Donnithorne’s Maggot at Leipzig Opera. She worked with Kirill Petrenko in Strauss’s Elektra at a performance in Bergen. Marie-Luise Dressen is also an author and is currently working on her first novel.
