Dr. Christian Casal was a director at McKinsey & Company, where until 2016 he led the firm’s Swiss offices. He additionally served as a member of the international Shareholders Council, McKinsey’s global board of directors. He began his tenure at McKinsey in October 1988 at the Zurich office and spent one year at the Greater China office in Hong Kong in 1993. Since 2017, he has been an Independent investor and entrepreneur as well as a member of various boards of directors of medium-sized companies and startups. He also serves on the boards of a range of charitable foundations – including Schweizer Berghilfe (Swiss Mountain Aid) and Schweizer Tafel (Swiss Table) – as well as on boards involving scientific and economic issues, such as Avenir Suisse and the Swiss SkyLab Foundation. Christian Casal is a citizen of Schiers in the canton of Graubünden and grew up in Rapperswil in the canton of St. Gallen, where he also resides. He received his university degree in economics and holds a doctorate from the University of St. Gallen. In his free time, he enjoys deep-sea sailing, chess, and golf.
